TOP 5 - August Must Haves!

The fact that there are about only 7 weeks left of summer amazes me. Where did the year go?! Although many of us spent the last few months indoors, self-care has been at an all-time high and we’re totally here for it! As we gradually make our way back into society with our glowing and growing skin and hair, I want to share with you some of our favorite products that have been doing us some justice during these months of quarantine.

The first product that has been holding me down (literally), is Style Factor Edge Booster Extra Strength Moisture Rich Pomade. These heat waves in New York have been no joke but I can confidently go outside with my laid edges knowing that when I get to my destination, they’ll still be intact. I also love using this product for braids and twists, and find that it doesn’t leave the white residue like many other edge controls. It’s a great hair product that has become a necessity in my cabinet. 

Sometimes, us natural girls have a hard time finding products that our hair actually likes. A product that I've been loving and now swear by this summer has been tgin Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner. High key, tgin has been a staple in the natural hair care regimens and I can’t get enough of this conditioner. It smells light and subtly sweet, and contains argan oil and shea butter. I love combining it with my favorite oils and sitting under the dryer to create a deep conditioner treatment. My hair always has a nice slip afterwards. This black owned business has been dominating the hair care industry and I'm all about it!

That brings us to another black owned business that I'm absolutely obsessed with. Ancient Cosmetics is a company focused on natural skin care products and their Authentic African Black Soap is phenomenal! It contains plantain skin ash, which treats acne and rosacea, and lowers the chances of scarring. When I tell you it has removed year old blemishes on my skin, GIRL! My skin literally feels like it’s detoxing and looks brighter than ever. Pro Tip: Be sure to lather it in your hands when washing your face and using a washcloth on your body to avoid scratching your delicate skin.

Now I don’t know about y’all, but since I’ve been quarantining for so long and nail salons have been closed, my feet have taken a major hit! My pumice stone and in-home pedicures just weren’t cutting it. I got hip to Aveeno Repairing Cica Foot Mask and when I tell you it is everything, GIRL! After the first use, my feet were super soft and silky. Just like that, it became a staple in my self-care routine. Get that ish y’all! It’s too good and best of all, it’s affordable AF! You can get it from Ulta for $3.99, and even cheaper at Target for $2.99! Thank me later!

Our last but most definitely not least August must have is Original Gloss Experts "Princess" Lip Gloss. (What?? I’m sure you saw that coming! LOL) “Princess” is a sheer baby pink tinted gloss. OGE’s products are not only vegan and cruelty free, they also contain ingredients, such as Grapeseed and Vitamin E oil, that hydrate and protect your skin. I love lining my lips with Original Gloss Experts “NY Pink” Lip Liner before applying “Princess”. It’s definitely a girly, flirty summertime look! Get you some!
